Built on the rock at the very entrance to Djerdap's Gorge, the fortress controlled the river for centuries. Continue through the Djerdap Gorge and National Park to visit the archaeological site of Lepenski vir. This site is known to be one of the oldest European and world urban settlements. Continue through the Iron Gates - the longest (100 km) and the deepest gorge (90 meters) in Europe.
