This full-day tour from Belgrade includes visits to Golubac Fortress, the Lepenski Vir archaeological site, and the Iron Gate National Park.
The tour begins at 8:00 AM with pickup from your accommodation in Belgrade. You will drive approximately two hours to Golubac Fortress, a 14th-century fortress located at the entrance of Iron Gate National Park. Explore the Green Zone of the fortress and view the Danube at its widest point below.
Next, visit Lepenski Vir, an archaeological site dating back 8,000 years and one of the earliest known urban settlements in Europe. A certified guide will explain the historical significance of the site.
Continue with a scenic drive through the Iron Gate Gorge, Europe's longest gorge, which includes four gorges and three valleys. Key sights include the Mali and Veliki Kazan gorges, where the Danube narrows to 140 meters and reaches depths over 90 meters.
The tour stops at a roadside viewpoint overlooking the Danube. Here, you can see the rock sculpture of King Decebalus, the last Dacian king and the tallest rock relief in Europe.
You will then return to Belgrade with drop-off at your accommodation.
