Description
Novi Sad is a city known for its tranquility, multi-ethnic heritage, and well-preserved architecture. Located on the Danube River and near Fruška Gora mountain, the city reflects centuries of cultural influences. It is sometimes called the 'Serbian Athens' and is famous for hosting EXIT, southeast Europe's largest music festival.
The Petrovaradin Fortress, located across the Danube, has historically been known as the 'Gibraltar of the Danube' due to its strategic importance. Today, it functions as a museum showcasing the region’s history.
Fruška Gora, often compared to the Holy Mountain, houses seventeen Serbian medieval monasteries built between the 15th and 17th centuries. These monasteries protect Serbian religious traditions and artistic heritage.
Sremski Karlovci is a baroque town rich in history, once serving as the cultural, political, and religious center for Serbs under the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It is renowned for its unique wines, including the distinctive Bermet variety.
