Description
Travel from your Belgrade accommodation to central Serbia, the former seat of the last Serbian medieval kingdom. Your first stop is Manasija Monastery, a 15th-century fortress-monastery built by Despot Stefan Lazarević. The monastery is surrounded by 11 towers and defensive trenches, showcasing Morava-style architecture. Inside, admire vivid frescoes, including warrior saints and Stefan offering the church to the Holy Trinity. The monastery’s scriptorium preserved Serbian literacy through the Resava orthography.
Next, explore Resava Cave, formed nearly 80 million years ago. Walk through its three levels of chambers filled with stalactites, stalagmites, and flowstone waterfalls. The cave offers an experience for both nature lovers and adventurers.
After the cave, visit Veliki Buk Waterfall, one of Serbia’s tallest waterfalls, cascading over 20 meters into a forested setting. Here you can relax and optionally enjoy a traditional Serbian lunch by the river (not included).
Return to Belgrade in the evening after a day highlighting history, culture, and natural beauty.
