Description

Operation Anthropoid was the codename for the assassination of high-ranking Nazi official Reinhard Heydrich by Czechoslovakian resistance fighters during World War II. The operation took place in Prague, Czechoslovakia in May 1942. Visitors will learn about the history of Operation Anthropoid, the planning and execution of the assassination, and the aftermath of the operation. The tour will provide insight into the bravery and sacrifice of the resistance fighters involved in this daring mission and the impact it had on the course of World War II. During this tour, visitors will have the opportunity to visit key locations in Prague related to Operation Anthropoid, including the Church of St. Cyril and St. Methodius where the resistance fighters hid after the assassination, the crypt where they were eventually found and killed, and the street corner where the assassination took place. Panenské Březany: The Lower House (where Heydrich lived) as well as the Upper House and the Kobylisy shooting range. Outside of Prague, visit the town of Lidice, this town was completely erased in retaliation for Heydrich's assassination. We will explore the memorial site, which includes a museum with exhibits detailing the history of the village and the massacre that took place there. This tour is a fascinating opportunity to delve into a lesser-known aspect of World War II history and to pay tribute to the courage of those who fought against the tyranny of the Nazi regime.
