Ada Ciganlija

The name Ciganlija could originate from the Celtic words "singa" and "lia" that means the island and underwater land, referring to the variability of Sava river’s water levels...
Since 1821 Ada has been a state and national good, which remains to this day.
Ada Ciganlija is an island on the Sava river, which has been artificially transformed into a peninsula.
It is located only 4km from the city centre. It is decorated by  a decennial forest, a lot of lawns and meadows, as well as a beautiful bathing place that attracts a large number of people, both Belgraders and tourists, during the summer period. While you are at Ada, you can see various birds, wild ducks, seagulls, and some pheasants and quails.
Also, Ada is the true attraction for fishing lovers. Ada Safari is a place where a large number of fishermen gather, and is one of the most beautiful corners of Ada Ciganlija.
On the promenade you can ride the bicycle, skate, roller skates... While adults are drinking coffees, in many cafes near the coast, children can play on some of the adapted playgrounds that are suitable for different ages.
Sports fans can enjoy in more than 50 different sports fields, including volleyball, handball, basketball, tennis, football, golf ... There are terrains for grass hockey, rugby, baseball, beach volleyball, and lovers of extreme sports can train climbing on a raft wall, a paintball, a bungee jump.
The lake is suitable for swimming, boating, kayaking, water polo, water jumps, windsurfing. To visitors of Ada Ciganlija, shops, picnic areas, bowling alley, mini-golf, horse riding stables, tourist trolleys, pedal boats and dinghies for lake driving, as well as an eco-powered electric boat, are available.
