Franz Ferdinand's visit, aimed at inspecting the imperial armed forces in Bosnia and Herzegovina, coincided with historical and personal anniversaries on June 28. This date, linked to the First Battle of Kosovo and Franz Ferdinand's wedding anniversary, became the backdrop for the tragic events that unfolded.
