Your tour begins with a pick up from your accommodation in Belgrade at 8:30 am, where you'll be comfortably transported in a minivan. Sit back and relax during the scenic 2-hour drive, as your expert guide shares fascinating tales about Serbia's medieval past. As you wind through the rolling hills of Šumadija, you'll soon find yourself in the lush, picturesque Resava River gorge, where the majestic Manasija Monastery awaits. Step into the past as you explore this extraordinary site, once a formidable military stronghold built to protect the Church of the Holy Trinity from Ottoman invaders. Constructed in the early 15th century by Despot Stefan Lazarević, the monastery endured invasions by the Turks in the 15th century and the Austrians in the 18th century, only to be lovingly restored twice in the 19th century. Marvel at the stunning floor mosaics, vibrant frescoes, and architectural wonders that make Manasija a rare gem in Serbian medieval architecture and art. Next, venture into the newly discovered Resava Cave, a natural marvel and one of the most captivating caves in Serbia. The crystal-clear waters plunge over 20 meters (65 feet) down a limestone cliff, creating a mesmerizing cascade and a cool, refreshing mist.
