Description

Take a full-day guided tour to eastern Serbia and discover the most interesting historical attractions of this region along the Danube River. Enjoy pickup and drop-off in Belgrade. After pickup in Belgrade, begin your historical adventure by heading to the Golubac Fortress, located at the entrance to the Iron Gate, the longest gorge in Europe and the widest flow of the Danube. Upon arrival, admire the impressive fortress, which was the among top 3 location choices for the filming of the 'Game of Thrones' series. Explore Golubac's visitor center, palace, and towers. Walk along the Danube and enjoy beautiful views, with free time included for lunch. After the fortress visit, enjoy the thrilling highlight of a 1-hour speed boat ride starting at the entrance of the Iron Gate Gorge (blue circle), near the Golubac Fortress. Be surrounded by breathtaking cliffs and picturesque landscapes. The Iron Gate, or Djerdapska Klisura, is the longest gorge in Europe, spanning approximately 100 kilometers (62 miles) along the Danube River. It begins near the Golubac Fortress in Serbia and extends to Orșova, Romania. This is where the Iron Gate gorge begins. While the Iron Gate continues further east (red line), this experience focuses on its western entrance and includes passing by the Golubac Fortress. Conclude your historical journey with free time for a delightful lunch near Danube river, making this full-day tour a perfect blend of history, natural beauty, and exhilarating boat adventure. After lunch, visit a local rakija distillery where you'll see the entire production process of Serbia's beloved fruit brandy. Enjoy a guided tasting of three rakija varieties, each paired with traditional local meze. From 6th November until 15th April, and also in case of unsuitable weather (wind or rain), instead of the speedboat ride we will visit Tumane Monastery. There is also the option to visit the Lepenski Vir archaeological site for an additional supplement of €10 per person, if the group members agree.
