Description

Depart from Belgrade in the morning towards Eastern Serbia, arriving at the village of Ram on the Danube’s bank. Visit Ram Fortress, an Ottoman structure built in the late 15th century on a steep rock above the river. This fortress was key in protecting the border between empires. Enjoy views from the walls and donjon tower while learning the history of Ram, from Celtic and Roman times to its role as a major trading port in the 19th century.

The tour then continues with a scenic drive along the Danube bank and Silver Lake. The Danube, Europe’s second-longest river, flows through ten countries and has been a vital link between civilizations. Once a border of the Roman Empire, it remains an important waterway connecting much of Europe, with numerous historical sites along its Serbian banks.

The next stop is Golubac Fortress, situated on cliffs at the river’s widest point at the entrance to the Đerdap Gorge. This medieval fortress offers panoramic views of the Danube and the surrounding area. Visitors can climb to viewpoints to see why locals often compare the Danube to the sea from here. Following the visit, there is a lunch break at a nearby restaurant.

After lunch, visit Pruna Distillery to explore the production of Serbian fruit rakia. The distillery combines traditional family methods with modern technology to produce premium rakias. The visit includes a walk through the orchard and production facilities, concluding with a guided tasting of three distinct rakias showcasing local flavors. Return to Belgrade afterward.
