Description
Visit the Obed Swamp and Zasavica Nature Reserves, located west of Belgrade along the Sava River. The Obed Swamp is a vast wetland forest known since the mid-19th century for its rich birdlife, earning it the nickname 'bird heaven.' This area represents a remnant of an old Sava riverbed and was designated a Ramsar wetland of international importance in 1977. It has also been recognized as an Important Bird Area (IBA) since 1989.
The tour includes a boat cruise through the Obed Swamp, providing a unique perspective on this protected environment. Afterwards, travel to Zasavica, a nature reserve featuring authentic meadows, riverside landscapes, and diverse plant and animal life. Here, you can enjoy fishing, birdwatching, and explore the traditional riverside lifestyle preserved in local folklore and daily life.
The lunch features traditional local cuisine, including specialty pork dishes. A highlight is the chance to taste and purchase products made from donkey milk, such as the world’s most expensive cheese, one of the unique features of Zasavica.
