Description

The tour starts at 8:00 AM with hotel pickup in Belgrade. A 2-hour drive leads to Golubac Fortress, located at the entrance of the Djerdap Gorge, where the Danube widens and nature is lush. Built in the early 14th century as a strategic border stronghold, the Fortress features the Hat Tower, its main symbol formerly used as a pier.

Next, visit Lepenski Vir, an archaeological site about 30 minutes from Golubac. This settlement, inhabited 8,000 years ago, is among Europe’s oldest known urban communities.

Continue through the picturesque Djerdap Gorge with a 45-minute scenic drive to Tekija, where a one-hour speedboat tour begins. Along the river, see Roman ruins including Trajan's Plaque, a memorial visible only from the water. Additional sights include Mrakonija Monastery, Balloon Stations Pena and Varnica, and the 40-meter-tall Stone Statue of Decebal Rex, Europe’s tallest rock sculpture.

After the boat ride, the tour stops twice at viewpoints on the scenic road for photos before heading to a local traditional restaurant for lunch.
