Step into Serbia’s fascinating past and stunning natural beauty on this day trip from Belgrade to the heart of the Pomoravlje District. We’ll begin the journey from your accommodation and head toward central Serbia, once the seat of the last Serbian medieval kingdom. Our first stop is Manasija Monastery, a majestic 15th-century fortress-monastery built by Despot Stefan Lazarević. Surrounded by 11 towers and deep defensive trenches, Manasija is one of the finest examples of Morava-style architecture. Inside, admire vivid frescoes, including powerful depictions of warrior saints and a beautiful image of Stefan offering a model of the church to the Holy Trinity. The monastery’s scriptorium also played a major role in preserving Serbian literacy through the Resava orthography. Next, we descend into the Resava Cave, one of the oldest and most impressive caves in Serbia, formed nearly 80 million years ago. Walk through spectacular chambers filled with stalactites, stalagmites, flowstone waterfalls, and whimsical rock formations that seem sculpted by nature itself. The cave spans three levels and is a wonderland for both nature lovers and adventurers. After the underground marvel, we’ll head to Veliki Buk Waterfall, one of Serbia’s highest waterfalls, cascading 20+ meters into a serene, forested landscape. This is the perfect spot to relax, breathe in the fresh air, and optionally enjoy a traditional Serbian lunch beside the river (not included in the tour price). We’ll return to Belgrade in the evening, wrapping up a day full of history, culture, and breathtaking nature.
