This year’s slogan of the international campaign “Love your local market 2018” – “Close to your heart”, proves that everybody loves their local markets. JKP “Gradske pijace”, as a member of the World Trade Organization (WUWM), participates in this international campaign, as well as other markets in the World.
This international campaign runs from May 17th to May 31st, and JKP “Gradske pijace”, along with 4,000 markets, shares the “Love your local market” movement. During the campaign markets will indicate the importance of preservation of tradition and culture, the importance of healthy and safe food, and will promote the market as a tourist symbol.
The central manifestation of the City Markets will be held on May 25 and 26, by organizing the Belgrade Night Market in “Studentski Park”, where the first market was established in 1824. This market was called “St Andrej Market”, but well known as the “Great Market”. This is the place where the history of good shopping and quality products in Belgrade began.
Great gathering of: markets champions – with their fresh products, designers, craftsmen, food and beverage producers, right at this location, will wake up a memory of a forgotten history of Belgrade. This “time machine” will surely attract a large number of visitors, who will be able to experience and feel a part of history through a diverse range of exhibitors, special program and presentations of the culture institutions of our city and country.
